The NonLinear Movement Method ®
move * release * feel * respond
Releasing trauma patterns into flow
One of the results of traumatic experience - this can reach back to childhood or just something recently happened - is “freeze”, a state in which body, mind and emotions are stuck in a state of numbness. Often we don’t recognize “freeze” as it is perceived as a feeling of “calm/nothing”. In that case we are unable to release the experience and ease the bodily patterns. The NLMM facilitates continuous movement, which opens the freeze pattern gently so that the underlying bodily and emotional patterns can be recognized and released.
Uniting mind and body in intimacy with physical sensation
Through continued engagement with the release of contraction and the emerging of emotional awareness the ingrained patterns become apparent and less pronounced. With continuous practice it becomes more and more habitual to engage with physical sensation. The acceptance and tolerance of all sensation increases. Intimacy with whatever is present is possible.
Accessing creativity through bodily wisdom
By putting emphasis on movement and eluding the analytical mind and loops of tense thinking the natural intelligence of our bodies is accessed. Through gentle guidance we are receptive to new possibilities beyond knowledge.
The method can be practiced at any age, fitness level and mobility. The movements are designed to be self regulating and can be done in any position, including laying down.

The Non-Linear Movement Method® (NLMM) has been developed by my long term teacher Michaela Boehm and refined and formatted by Steve James.
The Non-Linear Movement Method® (NLMM) is a powerful somatic method and has many deep applications:
Smoothing out the nervous system
Our modern life creates stress and tension in the body, our mind is overactive. Through NLMM those patterns of contraction can be identified. Gentle, non-force movements support you to unwind and relieve bodily tension and underlying mental loops. The result is a systematic, self-guided unburdening of the nervous system.
Identifying and processing emotions
Through the unwinding in the body the mind can relax in its own pace and the respective emotions of these patterns become apparent and can release. You will recognize recurring emotional loops that will be processed accordingly and at the same time allow emotions to simply rise and release.
Awakening erotic energy and sensual sensation
As tension, contraction and emotion are being released the body becomes sensitized and we are not only able to feel deeper but also feel increased pleasure and well being.
*NLMM is not a substitute for therapy or medical treatment. If you have a history of trauma, mental health issues or medical conditions, please consult your physician or mental health care practitioner to determine if somatic movement modalities are appropriate for you.*
